Man Arrested for Drug Offenses by Palisades Interstate Parkway Police
Palisades Interstate Parkway police arrested a drug crime suspect who was reportedly threatening to jump off a cliff near the George Washington Bridge (GWB).
The suspect is a 22-year-old man from the Bronx, New York. According to law enforcement, the suspect initially resisted arrest by Palisades Interstate P
arkway cops and ran to a cliff located on the side of River Road and close to the GWB.
The suspect allegedly climbed down the side of the cliff and stood approximately 50 feet below the roadway. When police officers confronted the suspect, he reportedly to
ld them that he would jump from the cliff. Port Authority cops soon arrived at the scene to offer assistance to Palisades Interstate Parkway police officers. After a brief negotiation, the suspect agreed to surrender peacefully. Police officers used harness to raise the suspect to safety at the top of the cliff.
The suspect was placed under arrest and charged with numerous crimes, including conspiracy to distribute cocaine, conspiracy to distribute ecstasy, and resisting arrest. Additionally, authorities indicated that the suspect will face armed robbery charges in New York City. The suspect is currently being held in police custody at the Bergen County Jail in Hackensack, New Jersey. He will eventually be turned over to NYC law enforcement.
