Fair Lawn NJ High School Student Accused of Home Burglary During Lunch Hour
Fair Lawn New Jersey police arrested an 18-year-old high school student who allegedly burglarized a home.
According to authorities, the suspect is a student at Fair Lawn High School. During his lunch period, the suspect allegedly left school grounds and went to a nearby home.
The suspect reportedly broke into the residence, which is located on Burbank Street in Fair Lawn, New Jersey. The home is roughly one block away from the high school.
Once inside the home, the suspect allegedly stole Xanax medication.
Fair Lawn police were notified of the burglary shortly after the break in. When police officers got to the scene, they investigated and saw that someone had gained access to the home by entering through an unlocked window.
Back at the high school, a school resource officer reportedly saw the suspect attempting to throw the stolen medication on the gym floor. With assistance from school security guards, the resource officer detained the suspect.
The suspect was later placed under arrest. Police officers questioned the suspect, who allegedly admitted to the burglary.
The suspect has been charged with burglary and theft of movable property.
Sometime after being arrested and processed, the suspect was released from custody on his own recognizance.
