Englewood Cliffs NJ Man Allegedly Caught Driving Drunk with 4-Year-Old Child on Cliffside Park Road
In a drunk driving case that is garnering national headlines right now, an Englewood Cliffs NJ man was arrested in Cliffside Park after his four-year-old daughter dialed 911 to report that he had passed out in their motor vehicle.
The alleged DWI incident occurred around 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 3. The young child was inside her dad’s car, which was parked on a street in Cliffside Park, New Jersey. The child’s father was reportedly in the driver’s seat of the car, but he was passed out.
The child got hold of her dad’s cellphone and dialed 911 to alert the Cliffside Park Police Department. Although the young girl did not know where the vehicle was parked, law enforcement was able to use the cellphone signal to track the location of the car.
When Cliffside Park NJ police officers arrived at the scene, they allegedly found the adult suspect passed out behind the wheel of the car – just as the child had told police dispatchers. Additionally, police allegedly found a half-full bottle of vodka inside the motor vehicle.
The suspect, a 41-year-old man who lives in Englewood Cliffs NJ, was placed under arrest at the scene. He faces numerous charges, including endangering the welfare of a child and Driving While Intoxicated (DWI). He has also been cited for multiple traffic violations.
Thankfully, the young girl was not injured as a result of the alleged drunk driving incident. After NJ police arrested the suspect and took him to police headquarters, the child was turned over the custody of a relative.
