East Orange Man Allegedly Failed to Pay Toll on GWB in Fort Lee, NJ
Port Authority cops recently arrested an East Orange NJ man who allegedly failed to pay the required toll on the George Washington Bridge (GWB) in Fort Lee, New Jersey.
The suspect is a 52-year-old resident of East Orange, New Jersey. According to law enforcement officials, the suspect drove his motor vehicle through the toll plaza on the GWB in Fort Lee and neglected to pay the necessary toll.
Detectives believe that the suspect hoped to avoid being caught because it was the morning rush hour – around 8:20 a.m. – and there were a lot of cars passing through the toll plaza.
A Port Authority police officer was on foot patrol and he instructed the suspect to pull over his car. However, the suspect allegedly ignored the officer’s command and instead tried to flee the scene.
The suspect reportedly hit the concrete divider near the toll lanes while attempting to evade law enforcement.
Police officers eventually captured the suspect and placed him under arrest.
The suspect has been cited for numerous traffic offenses, including eluding police, toll evasion, and reckless driving.
