Bogota NJ Man Pleads Guilty to Distributing Child Pornography on Internet
A Bogota NJ man is headed to state prison after reportedly pleading guilty to criminal charges of distributing child pornography.
According to law enforcement, the suspect used file-sharing software to upload videos of child pornography via the Internet. Those videos were then downloaded by other people online.
While searching the suspect’s Bogota NJ residence, detectives reportedly seized his personal computer. According to authorities, the computer contained a number of videos of underage children being raped.
The suspect is a 70-year-old male from Bogota, NJ. He was charged with distribution of child pornography.
The suspect was set to stand trial in Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack, NJ, but he reached a plea agreement with prosecutors and avoided trial. The plea calls for the suspect to be sentenced to a term of incarceration of four years, including a minimum mandatory sentence of 20 months before the suspect becomes eligible for release on parole. If the suspect had gone to trial, he would have faced up to 10 years behind bars.
When the suspect is eventually released from prison, he will be subject to Megan’s Law sex offender registration requirements.
