Bergenfield Father-Son Duo Charged with Burglary, Elder Abuse
The suspects in the burglary are a 61-year-old Bergenfield man and a 28-year-old Bergenfield man. The older suspect is the dad of the younger suspect.
According to Bergenfield law enforcement officials, the suspects burglarized a home located on Willow Street in Bergenfield, New Jersey. Police got a call about the break-in and sent cops to the scene to investigate.
Police spoke with the homeowner, who said that she came home to find that her rear window had been broken. Detectives then followed a blood trail that led from the shattered window to the backyard of the next-door residence.
The two suspects were inside the other residence, where police also reportedly found jewelry and money that had been stolen from the victim’s house.
Bergenfield NJ detectives investigated and determined that the suspects had also abused the older suspect’s mother (also the younger suspect’s grandmother) by withholding “necessities” from her. The victim is 84 years old.
After being placed under arrest and processed, the suspects were taken to the Bergen County Jail in Hackensack, NJ.
