Bergenfield Father-Son Duo Charged with Burglary, Elder Abuse

Police officers in Bergenfield, NJ arrested two men – a father and his son – for burglary and elder abuse.
The suspects in the burglary are a 61-year-old Bergenfield man and a 28-year-old Bergenfield man. The older suspect is the dad of the younger suspect.
According to Bergenfield law enforcement officials, the suspects burglarized a home located on Willow Street in Bergenfield, New Jersey. Police got a call about the break-in and sent cops to the scene to investigate.
Police spoke with the homeowner, who said that she came home to find that her rear window had been broken. Detectives then followed a blood trail that led from the shattered window to the backyard of the next-door residence.
The two suspects were inside the other residence, where police also reportedly found jewelry and money that had been stolen from the victim’s house.
Bergenfield NJ detectives investigated and determined that the suspects had also abused the older suspect’s mother (also the younger suspect’s grandmother) by withholding “necessities” from her. The victim is 84 years old.
The suspects have been charged with multiple crimes, including burglary, theft of movable property, hindering apprehension, obstruction of justice, criminal mischief, and elder abuse.
After being placed under arrest and processed, the suspects were taken to the Bergen County Jail in Hackensack, NJ.
