NY Man Accused of Sexual Abuse in Mahwah, New Jersey
A NY man is facing criminal charges for allegedly sexually abusing a young girl in Mahwah, New Jersey.
According to Bergen County prosecutors, the 32-year-old suspect committed the sex crime against a girl who was between the ages of six and seven.
Law enforcement learned of the sex crime allegations after the victim, who is now a teenager, informed a therapist of the alleged sexual abuse. The victim later spoke with a caseworker with the NJ Division of Child Protection and Permanency. The victim told authorities that the suspect abused her on “multiple occasions.”
The Mahwah Police Department and the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit then worked together on an investigation.
The suspect, who resides in Greenwood Lake, New York, was later arrested and charged with multiple sexual offenses, including sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child.
After being placed under arrest and charged, the suspect was taken to the Bergen County Jail in Hackensack, NJ. He was being held at the jail in lieu of $100,000 bail.
