Hackensack NJ Man Charged with Eluding After Allegedly Fleeing Police in Elmwood Park, NJ
Police in Elmwood Park NJ arrested a Hackensack man after he allegedly refused to pull over for a traffic stop.
Elmwood Park patrol officers reportedly observed the 29-year-old suspect commit a traffic violation while driving on Route 80 in Elmwood Park, New Jersey. When the officers signaled the suspect to stop his vehicle, he allegedly tried to speed away.
During the subsequent chase on Route 80, officers reportedly saw the suspect toss illegal narcotics out of his vehicle window. However, police were unable to recover the alleged drugs.
Elmwood Park officers were eventually able to bring the suspect’s vehicle to a stop near the intersection of Essex Street and Prospect Avenue in Hackensack, New Jersey. Thankfully, the chase did not result in any injuries to other drivers or pedestrians.
The suspect was placed under arrest and charged with eluding police. The suspect was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia because officers allegedly found drug-related items in his vehicle.
In addition to facing criminal charges, the suspect was cited for a number of traffic violations. The arresting officers issued traffic tickets for reckless driving and careless driving.
Sometime after being arrested, the suspect was released from custody on his own recognizance. He will have to appear in Elmwood Park Municipal Court at a later date to answer the charges.
