Hackensack NJ Man Charged with Child Endangerment, Allegedly Distributed Child Porn on Internet
Law enforcement recently arrested a Hackensack New Jersey man who allegedly distributed child pornography over the Internet.
According to Bergen County prosecutors, the 24-year-old suspect used an online file sharing program to distribute the illicit sexual content.
Once the allegations came to light, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Computer Crimes Unit started an investigation. Detectives with the computer crimes task force were assisted in the investigation by the Lyndhurst Police Department and the Bogota Police Department.
Investigators examined the suspect’s personal computer and eventually obtained enough evidence to link the suspect to the sex crime. The suspect was placed under arrest at his residence.
The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office issued a statement announcing that the suspect has been charged with endangering the welfare of a child.
If the suspect is ultimately convicted of child endangerment, he faces severe penalties. As set forth by N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4, a person who circulates any images depicting a child engaging in a prohibited sexual act can be charged with a second degree felony. A conviction for second degree child endangerment could result in a sentence of 5-10 years in NJ State Prison.
After being arrested and processed, the suspect was remanded to the Bergen County Jail in Hackensack, New Jersey. He was being held at the correctional facility on a $100,000 bail amount.
