Fair Lawn NJ Police Arrest Driver and Passenger After Drunk-Driving Accident
Fair Lawn NJ Police arrested both the driver and the passenger in a drunk-driving accident.
When Fair Lawn police officers responded to reports of a single-vehicle crash on Route 208, they found the car near the accident site.
Officers questioned the driver and the passenger. Based on their responses, the officers determined that the men had switched places after the crash.
The officers then administered roadside sobriety tests to the men: 23-year-old Edison resident Franklyn Bardecker and 35-year-old Lazaro Perez. Both men failed the field sobriety tests.
Mr. Bardecker and Mr. Perez were both charged with drunk driving (DWI) and leaving the scene of an accident.
In New Jersey, DWI penalties are set forth in N.J.S.A. 39:4-50. If Mr. Bardecker and Mr. Perez are convicted of first offense DWI, they could each be sentenced to up to 30 days in the county jail. Additionally, the men could lose their driver’s licenses for up to one (1) year.
