Englewood man pleads guilty to second degree vehicular homicide for DWI crash last year

An Englewood man plead guilty on Thursday to one count of second degree vehicular homicice and driving while intoxicated (DWI) for his role in a drunk driving accident which killed two passengers in his vehicle last year. The defendant’s blood alcohol content (BAC) was .11 when his car left the roadway and crashed into a wooded area in Englewood in January 2012. As a drunk driving defense lawyer, .11% BAC is not a very high reading at all. In fact, the legal limit in New Jersey used to be .10% BAC before it was lowered to .08% several years ago. As a result, it is very surprising that an accident like this occurred. It just goes to show you that any alcohol in your system can seriously inhibit your ability to properly operate a motor vehicle.

The defendant is facing, based on a second degree crime, a presumption of incarceration and a state prison range of five (5) to ten (10) years.
