Elmwood Park NJ Woman Accused of Drunk Driving, Leaving Scene of Accident in Ridgewood, New Jersey
Ridgewood NJ police recently arrested an Elmwood Park woman accused of driving while intoxicated (DWI).
According to authorities, the 21-year-old suspect caused a drunk driving accident while operating a vehicle on East Saddle River Road in Ridgewood, New Jersey. The accident reportedly occurred around 7 p.m.
Immediately after the crash, the suspect allegedly fled the scene.
Authorities said that the suspect then attempted to hide her car on Wall Street. Despite the suspect’s alleged efforts to conceal evidence of the crash, Ridgewood police were able to locate the vehicle.
The Ridgewood Police Department conducted an investigation into the accident and determined that the suspect was trying to drive the car into a parking garage when the accident occurred.
Not long after police found the vehicle, they located the suspect and placed her under arrest.
The suspect has been charged with a number of offenses, including driving while intoxicated and DWI in a school zone. Additionally, the suspect has been cited for numerous traffic violations, including leaving the scene of an accident, reckless driving, failure to report an accident with injury, following too closely, failure to exhibit documents, and failure to install an interlock device.
If the suspect is convicted on the DWI charges, she could be subject to significant penalties. For example, a conviction for first offense DWI carries penalties that include up to 30 days in jail, a $500 fine, and mandatory loss of driver’s license for 7 months to 1 year.
Sometime after being arrested and charged, the suspect was released from police custody. She will have to appear in Ridgewood Municipal Court at a later date to address the charges against her.
