Three Arrested, Accused of Stealing Parcels from Front Porches in Maywood, NJ
Maywood New Jersey police recently arrested a group of men who allegedly stole parcels that had been left outside local homes.
The Maywood Police Department received a report of individuals taking packages from the fronts of houses on Thoma Avenue in Maywood, NJ.
A Maywood patrol officer noticed an SUV that matched the description of a car used in the thefts. The police officer chased after the suspects, but he eventually broke off the chase when the suspects exited onto Woodland Avenue and drove at an extremely high rate of speed.
The officer later reengaged and caught up to the vehicle after the suspects parked it along railroad tracks.
Four suspects exited the vehicle and attempted to flee the scene on foot. Police were able to apprehend three of the suspects.
During the pursuit, the suspect believed to have driven the getaway car allegedly shoved a police officer. The officer sustained minor injuries as a result of the violent altercation. He was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center, where he received treatment for his injuries.
The three suspects who were arrested face criminal charges for theft of movable property and eluding police. Additionally, one of the suspects faces charges for aggravated assault and resisting arrest.
