Rockleigh NJ Man Accused of Sexual Assault in Northvale, New Jersey
Northvale NJ police recently arrested a man accused of sexually assaulting a young girl.
According to law enforcement, the 31-year-old suspect engaged in multiple sexual acts with the juvenile victim.
The Northvale Police Department began an investigation after receiving a report that the suspect had committed sexual assault. Northvale NJ police contacted the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, which then conducted its own investigation and interviewed the suspect.
Sometime after speaking with the suspect and gathering evidence in the case, prosecutors determined that the suspect should be placed under arrest.
The suspect, who resides in Rockleigh NJ, has been charged with several sex crimes, including sexual assault, criminal sexual contact, and child endangerment.
If the suspect is ultimately convicted on the most serious charges of sexual assault, he could face significant penalties. As set forth by N.J.S.A. 2C:14-2, sexual assault is ordinarily classified as a second degree felony. A conviction for second degree sexual assault could result in a sentence of 5-10 years in New Jersey State Prison.
After being arrested and processed, the suspect was transported to the Bergen County Jail in Hackensack, New Jersey. He was being held at the jail in lieu of $150K bail.
