Rochelle Park NJ Police Conduct Sting at Local Hotel, Arrest 8 for Prostitution
Police recently arrested 8 people in an undercover prostitution sting at a hotel in Rochelle Park, NJ.
The bust was made by Rochelle Park police as part of a sting operation to catch prostitutes who were offering illegal sexual services.
As part of the operation, an undercover officer with the Rochelle Park Police Department posed as a prospective customer. Law enforcement searched online advertisements and contacted several prostitutes in order to arrange a meeting with the undercover cop.
Police arranged meetings with several prostitutes at the Rochelle Park NJ hotel. The sting operation took place over an entire weekend.
Rochelle Park police arrested 4 people for prostitution. The prostitution suspects include a 26-year-old West Orange NJ woman, a 34-year-old New York woman, a 36-year-old NY woman, and a 37-year-old Howell NJ woman.
Additionally, police arrested a 40-year-old New York man who was allegedly acting as security for one of the suspects. He was charged with conspiracy and aiding in prostitution.
Beyond that, Rochelle Park police arrested 3 people for promoting prostitution. The suspects include a 23-year-old Orange NJ man, a 35-year-old Maplewood man, and a 42-year-old Newark man.
Two of the suspects were also charged with simple possession of marijuana because police allegedly found them with small amounts of marijuana on their person.
After being placed under arrest and issued summonses, all of the suspects were released from police custody on their own recognizance. They will all have to appear in Rochelle Park Municipal Court in order to address the charges against them.
