Police Arrest Suspect in Lyndhurst Church Burglary
An East Rutherford NJ man has been accused of burglarizing a church in Lyndhurst, New Jersey.
The burglary occurred at St. Michael’s Church, which is located in Lyndhurst, NJ. According to authorities, the suspect hid on a balcony outside the church for several hours and waited for everyone inside the building to leave.
Once inside the church, the suspect allegedly broke into five donation boxes and stole an unspecified amount of cash.
Church officials discovered evidence of the break-in the following day and notified local law enforcement. Detectives with the Lyndhurst Police Department investigated the break-in and obtained video surveillance footage that allegedly shows the suspect using the balcony to access the church.
Lyndhurst NJ police officers located the suspect on Grant Avenue in Lyndhurst. Cops arrested the suspect, but only after chasing him down. The suspect reportedly tried to evade police by running through a Rite-Aid pharmacy.
The suspect is a 34-year-old resident of East Rutherford, New Jersey. He faces multiple criminal charges, including burglary, theft of movable property, criminal mischief, eluding police, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
