Police Arrest Connecticut Man Who Allegedly Committed Sexual Assault of Young Girl in Hackensack, NJ
A Tennessee man was recently extradited to Hackensack NJ to face charges of sexual assault from two decades ago.
According to New Jersey law enforcement, the suspect began the sexual abuse of the victim when she was just seven years old.
The victim, who is now 27 years old, came forward and spoke with the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit. During interviews, the woman told investigators that the suspect had abused her between the ages of 7 and 14. It is believed that the sexual assaults occurred in Hackensack, New Jersey.
The suspect, who is now 62 years old, was eventually placed under arrest. At the time of his arrest, the suspect was visiting family members in Connecticut.
The suspect was formally charged with aggravated sexual assault and sexual assault.
Although the suspect was initially detained in Connecticut, he quickly waived extradition and was sent back to New Jersey.
After being sent back to Hackensack, the suspect was moved to the Bergen County Jail. He was being held at the jail on a $300,000 bail amount.
