NY Suspects Charged with Burglary, Theft After Allegedly Breaking into Paramus T-Mobile Store
Paramus New Jersey police arrested two NY men accused of burglarizing a local business.
The Paramus Police Department received a report of a break-in at the T-Mobile store located at 255 Route 4 West in Paramus, NJ. The incident reportedly occurred shortly before 2:00 a.m.
When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered that a rear window had been broken at a building next door to the T-Mobile store.
Police officers investigated and found a 47-year-old man hiding in the ceiling above the empty building. The suspect allegedly struggled with police and attempted to escape, but the officers eventually managed to subdue him and place him under arrest.
Police searched the cell phone store and noticed that a hole had been cut in a wall. Authorities believe that the hole was utilized by the culprits to bypass the store’s security system.
Once the suspects were inside the store, they allegedly broke into several safes and stole an unspecified amount of cash, as well as numerous cell phones.
During the investigation, Paramus police learned that at least one other person may have assisted with the burglary and theft. Investigators eventually tracked down the suspect at an apartment in Yonkers, New York. Paramus police and Yonkers police worked together to apprehend and arrest the second suspect.
Both suspects have been charged with a number of crimes, including burglary, theft of movable property, and possession of burglary tools. The first suspect also faces charges for resisting arrest.
After being arrested and processed, the first suspect was taken to the Bergen County Jail in Hackensack, New Jersey. He was being held at the jail in lieu of $25,000 bail. Meanwhile, the second suspect was in the process of being extradited from NY to NJ.
Police have asked for the public’s help with the investigation. Anyone who has information about the alleged burglary or the suspects should call Paramus NJ police at 201-262-3400.
