North Arlington Man Accused of Speeding, DWI in Guttenberg, New Jersey
A North Arlington NJ man was reportedly drunk when he crashed his car in Edgewater, New Jersey.
The incident occurred during the early morning hours. According to authorities, the 25-year-old suspect was speeding while driving a black Cadillac CTS north on Bergenline Avenue in Guttenberg, NJ.
A taxi driver spotted the suspect driving at an excessive speed as he passed 70th Street. The cab driver alerted a patrol officer, who then followed the suspect as the suspect allegedly drove 80 mph and ran through a number of stop signs.
The suspect eventually turned onto River Road in Edgewater, NJ. At that point, he reportedly rolled his car onto the roadway.
The suspect managed to avoid serious injuries in the crash. The same was true for his 22-year-old passenger, who was also able to get out of the car safely. Both vehicle occupants were taken to Hackensack Medical Center, where they received treatment for minor injuries.
The suspect was later charged with driving while intoxicated (DWI). He allegedly told police that he smoked marijuana prior to getting behind the wheel of the car.
The suspect was also cited for several traffic violations, including reckless driving, careless driving, and driving with a suspended license.
