Terroristic Threats Charges Lodi NJ

Police in Lodi NJ arrested a local man who allegedly attacked an acquaintance and held a knife to his throat.

Lodi police received a report of a physical altercation at a local residence. When police officers arrived at the scene, they saw the aftermath of a serious disagreement.

According to authorities, the suspect got into an argument with the victim at a gathering. The argument escalated, resulting in the suspect allegedly holding a knife to the victim’s throat.

Police also said that the suspect punched the victim.

Responding officers reportedly recovered the knife used in the attack. According to police, the officers also came across other evidence which suggests that an assault occurred.

As a result of what police allegedly found at the scene, the suspect has been charged with aggravated assault and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.

If the suspect is convicted of aggravated assault, he might face significant penalties. That’s because N.J.S.A. 2C:12-1b(2) classifies aggravated assault with a deadly weapon as a second degree criminal offense. This means that the suspect could be subject to a sentence of 5–10 years in New Jersey State Prison.

Also, because it is a violent crime under the No Early Release Act, the defendant must serve 85% of his prison sentence before becoming eligible for parole.

Although Lodi police are actively investigating the incident, they have not yet released any additional details about what transpired.

While the investigation continues, the suspect remains in the Bergen County Jail in lieu of $20,000 bail.
