Indiana Man Accused of Committing Sexual Assaults in Mahwah, Paramus, New Jersey
An Indiana man was recently indicted on charges of sexually assaulting a young girl in Mahwah and Paramus, New Jersey.
The sex crime incidents reportedly occurred in December 2012. According to Bergen County prosecutors, the suspect committed the sexual assault against a 15-year-old girl who lived in Mahwah, NJ.
The suspect allegedly met the teenage victim in a chat room that has been described by police as a “Russian Roulette” chat service in which users are randomly linked to each other.
After meeting the victim online, the suspect allegedly drove from Indiana to Bergen County, New Jersey. The drive reportedly took the suspect 10 hours.
Once the suspect was in NJ, he allegedly sexually assaulted the victim in Mahwah and Paramus.
The 32-year-old suspect, who is from Fort Wayne, Indiana, was later arrested and charged with a number of crimes, including sexual assault, child endangerment, and hindering apprehension.
Now the suspect is set to stand trial after a Bergen County grand jury indicted him on the criminal charges.
Authorities said that the suspect has a prior conviction on charges of sexual misconduct with a minor stemming from an incident in Indiana.
After being placed under arrest and processed, the suspect was taken to the Bergen County Jail in Hackensack, NJ. He was being held at the jail in lieu of a massive $200K bail amount.
