Hackensack, NJ Man Accused Sexually Assaulting 11-Year-Old Girl
A Hackensack, NJ man has been accused of sexually abusing a young girl.
25-year-old Luis Remache was arrested by Hackensack, NJ police this week and charged with aggravated sexual assault. Law enforcement authorities believe that Remache began sexually abusing the girl when she was just 11 years old and continued the abuse for more than a year. The girl is believed to be an acquaintance of Remache.
The girl eventually told her parents that she had been assaulted. Moonachie, NJ police were then notified of the alleged assaults when the girl’s father contacted authorities. The girl was allegedly abused several times, with the assaults apparently stopping sometime in summer 2013.
According to Bergen County, NJ prosecutors, the girl repeated her allegations against Remache in an interview conducted by detectives with the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit.
Due to the young age of the victim, Remache now faces aggravated sexual assault charges. Remache has also been charged with endangering the welfare of a child.
In New Jersey, aggravated sexual assault is a very serious offense. As set forth by N.J.S.A. 2C:14-2a, aggravated sexual assault is a first degree crime punishable by a sentence of up to 20 years in New Jersey State Prison. If Remache is convicted in this case, he could be subject to a minimum sentence of 10 years in prison.
After being arrested, Remache was held at the Bergen County Jail in lieu of $300,000 bail.
