Glen Rock Police Arrest Pregnant Woman Who Allegedly Tried to Hide Heroin in Body Cavity
Glen Rock patrol officers stopped a motor vehicle on the roadway because its temporary registration was not clearly visible in the back window.
The officers ran a check on the vehicle occupants – a 27-year-old male driver and a 22-year-old female occupant – and learned that both passengers had outstanding warrants for their arrest. The female passenger had a warrant for her arrest out of a Sparta, while the male suspect had a warrant out of Oxford Township NJ. As a result, both suspects were placed under arrest.
Things got strange when the female suspect, who was in the back of a police cruiser, allegedly reached into her pants and tried to hide 89 packets of heroin. The woman, who is from Gouldsboro PA, was six months pregnant, so she was handcuffed with her arms in front of her.
When the officers took the suspect to Glen Rock police headquarters, they allegedly found her in possession of the heroin. The officers believed that the suspects might be in possession of drugs because the male suspect reportedly had fresh needle track marks on his arm. However, police weren’t aware of the drugs until they viewed surveillance camera footage which showed the woman reaching into her pants several times and placing the heroin bags into a body cavity.
Additionally, a Bergen County Sheriff’s Office K-9 unit later detected the presence of more narcotics inside the suspect’s vehicle.
The female suspect has been charged with possession of heroin. Shortly after being arrested and processed, she was released from police custody on her own recognizance. She has a pending court date in Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack, New Jersey.
The male suspect was cited for several traffic violations and then released from police custody.
