Fair Lawn NJ Man Charged with Manslaughter after Beating Victim Dies
The aggravated assault charges against a Fair Lawn NJ man were upgraded to manslaughter charges after a beating victim died at a Paterson New Jersey hospital.
According to Bergen County prosecutors, the suspect savagely beat the victim at a residence located on Smith Avenue in Fair Lawn, New Jersey. The victim had reportedly gone to the house to visit the suspect’s girlfriend, who lived there.
The suspect allegedly became angry and brutally attacked the victim, causing severe physical injuries.
The victim was rushed to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center in Paterson NJ, where doctors worked to stabilize his condition. The victim underwent surgery at the hospital. However, the victim, who lived in North Haledon NJ, later died as a result of his injuries. The victim was 64 years of age when he tragically died.
When the victim passed away, the suspect was already in police custody. He had been placed under arrest and charged with aggravated assault after a joint investigation by the Fair Lawn Police Department and the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit.
The 59-year-old suspect now faces second degree manslaughter charges in connection with the alleged attack. If he is convicted on the very serious criminal charges, he could be sentenced to 5-10 years in New Jersey State Prison.
