Englewood NJ Police Arrest Man Accused of Driving Drunk with Infant in Car
Englewood NJ police arrested a man who was allegedly drunk while driving a vehicle and speeding down a local street with a family in the car.
According to law enforcement, the 50-year-old suspect was behind the wheel of a vehicle with an Englewood woman, her 14-year-old daughter, and her 1-month-old granddaughter as passengers. The incident occurred after a dinner outing.
When the woman in the vehicle smelled alcohol on the suspect’s breath, she insisted that he stop the car. The suspect then stopped the vehicle and let the passengers out of the car.
The woman reported the incident to Englewood New Jersey police. Investigators then traced a cell phone left behind in the vehicle and were able to locate the suspect at his residence on Oakland Street in Englewood, New Jersey.
Police officers tried to arrest the suspect, but he allegedly resisted arrest and violently punched, kicked, and bit the officers. Police eventually subdued the suspect by using a taser.
After the suspect was arrested, three police officers were taken to Englewood Hospital to receive medical treatment for various injuries. The suspect also received treatment at the medical facility.
The suspect has been charged with child endangerment, criminal restraint for the driving incident. He has also been charged with aggravated assault on a police officer, resisting arrest, and obstruction of justice for allegedly fighting with police.
After being arrested and processed, the suspect was transported to Bergen County Jail in Hackensack, NJ. He was being held at the correctional facility on a $302,500 bail amount.
