Two Wallington NJ Men Charged with Robbery After Mugging
Wallington NJ police officers arrested two (2) men for allegedly mugging another man.
It is believed by authorities that 22-year-old Paul J. Desbiens and 22-year-old Joshua J. Boyd contacted the 31-year-old victim on the victim’s cell phone and arranged a meeting. Later, when the victim arrived at Main Avenue near Hatheway Park in Wallington, New Jersey, Mr. Desbiens and Mr. Boyd allegedly attacked him and stole his cell phone and an undisclosed amount of cash.
Sometime later, Wallington police officers arrested Mr. Desbiens and Mr. Boyd outside their respective homes in Wallington. Both men have been charged with assault and robbery, in addition to other related charges.
In New Jersey, robbery is a very serious offense. The crime is addressed by N.J.S.A. 2C:15-1, which classifies robbery as either a first degree felony or a second degree felony, depending on the circumstances. If the prosecutor determines that Mr. Desbiens and Mr. Boyd purposefully inflicted serious bodily injury on the victim, the men may be charged with first degree robbery. If convicted of first degree robbery, Mr. Desbiens and Mr. Boyd could each be sentenced to between 10 and 20 years in New Jersey State Prison.
Both men were being held in the Bergen County Jail – Mr. Desbiens on $100,000.00 bail and Mr. Boyd on $175,000.00 bail.
