Traffic Stop in Englewood NJ Reportedly Leads to Seizure of Loaded Handgun
Englewood NJ police recently arrested three adults and one teenager who allegedly had a loaded handgun in a motor vehicle.
The Englewood Police Department police chief was on patrol when he reportedly saw a 1998 blue Mercedes Benz driving erratically. The incident occurred near Liberty Road and Glenbrook Parkway in Englewood, New Jersey.
The chief pulled over the suspects’ vehicle and ran a license plate check.
As the officer was initiating the traffic stop, a police dispatch issued an alert for a male suspect in possession of a gun in the area of Liberty Road. According to the dispatch, the male suspect was joined by several other men, all of whom were driving in a blue Mercedes Benz.
Several other officers then converged on the scene. As the officers approached the vehicle, they reportedly saw a .25 caliber Beretta semi-automatic gun.
Police arrested all four occupants of the car. The suspects included an 18-year-old Englewood man, a 19-year-old Teaneck man, a 22-year-old Englewood man, and a 15-year-old teenager from Englewood.
All of the suspects have been charged with illegal possession of a handgun.
After being arrested and processed, the three adult suspects were taken to the Bergen County Jail in Hackensack, New Jersey. They are each being held at the jail on $50,000 bail amounts.
Meanwhile, the teenage suspect was taken to the Bergen County Juvenile Detention Center in Teterboro, NJ.
The Englewood Police Department is actively investigating the incident. Englewood detectives are working with agents from the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives to determine the origin of the handgun reportedly recovered from the suspects’ vehicle.
