Teaneck Man Charged with Murder, Accused of Fatally Stabbing Mother, Brother
A Teaneck NJ man has been charged with murder after allegedly killing his mother and brother by stabbing them to death.
According to law enforcement, the tragedy began when the 60-year-old suspect got into an altercation with his brother at a Ward Plaza home located on 72 Ward Street in Teaneck, New Jersey. The family reportedly lived together at the house.
At some point, things became physical and the suspect allegedly stabbed his 52-year-old brother. The brothers’ elderly mother, who was 84 years old, was also fatally stabbed during the fight.
The Teaneck Police Department received a call about the fatal stabbings and dispatched officers to the scene. Teaneck police were joined by officers from the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities investigated the incident and later arrested the suspect.
If the suspect is ultimately convicted on first degree murder charges, he faces significant penalties. As set forth by N.J.S.A. 2C:11-3, murder is the most serious crime in the New Jersey Criminal Code. A conviction for first degree murder could lead to life imprisonment in NJ State Prison, with a minimum mandatory term of incarceration of 30 years.
