Passaic NJ Man Accused of Kidnapping Ex-Girlfriend in Garfield, Attacking Her with Broomstick
A Passaic NJ man was arrested after allegedly kidnapping his former girlfriend from her apartment in Garfield, New Jersey.
According to authorities, the 35-year-old suspect broke into the 23-year old victim’s residence by kicking in her door. Once inside the apartment, the suspect allegedly broke a broomstick over the victim’s head. He then allegedly grabbed the victim and dragged her by the wrist out of the apartment.
The victim’s younger sister was present during the incident. According to the sister, the suspect threatened to kill her and her family if she attempted to contact police.
Shortly after the incident, the victim’s sister went to a neighbor’s apartment and used the phone to call her mother; the mother then contacted Garfield police.
Passaic police were soon alerted because the suspect reportedly has an apartment in Passaic, New Jersey. When police officers went to the suspect’s residence, they reportedly found the victim.
The victim was taken to a local hospital to be treated for her injuries.
Meanwhile, the suspect was placed under arrest. He has been charged with a number of serious criminal offenses, including kidnapping, aggravated assault, terroristic threats, burglary, robbery, and weapons offenses.
The suspect is currently being held at the Bergen County Jail in lieu of $1 million bail.
