Paramus NJ Man Accused of Stabbing Friends with X-Acto Knife in Fort Lee, New Jersey
Fort Lee NJ police arrested a Paramus New Jersey man accused of stabbing two people.
The victims were friends of the suspect. They alerted law enforcement to the alleged stabbing incident when they walked into Fort Lee police headquarters a short time after 2:00 a.m. Both men were suffering from significant stab wounds when they entered the Fort Lee NJ police station.
The victims were rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors treated them for their stab-related injuries. One victim had a cut on his right arm, while the other victim had a stab wound on his right hand.
One of the victims later told Fort Lee police that the suspect used an X-Acto knife to commit the violent attack. However, the other victim reportedly refused to speak to investigators about the violent incident that led to their injuries.
Based on their conversation with the victim, Fort Lee NJ police officers were able to piece together what happened. The victims were reportedly passengers in a Volkswagen Golf driven by the suspect. When the car got to the intersection of Palisades Boulevard and 16th Street in Fort Lee, the group reportedly got into a verbal altercation that spilled over into physical violence.
At one point during the fight, the suspect allegedly grabbed an X-Acto knife and stabbed the victims.
The victims then exited the vehicle and the suspect drove off.
Fort Lee NJ detectives later located the suspect’s vehicle and placed the suspect under arrest. Fort Lee cops reportedly noticed blood stains inside the suspect’s car. Additionally, while being apprehended, the suspect allegedly admitted to stabbing the victims.
The 23-year-old suspect has been charged with numerous crimes, including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
If the suspect is convicted on the aggravated assault charges, he faces severe penalties. As set forth by N.J.S.A. 2C:12-1, anyone who commits an assault with a deadly weapon like a knife or a handgun can be charged with a third degree felony. A conviction on third degree aggravated assault charges could lead to a sentence of 3-5 years in NJ State Prison.
After being arrested and processed, the suspect posted bail and secured his release from police custody. He will eventually have to appear in Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack NJ in order to address the criminal charges against him.
