Palisades Park NJ Man Accused of Distributing Heroin in Bergen County, New Jersey
Bergen County authorities recently seized a massive amount of heroin valued at more than $1 million.
During the past 12 months, police have conducted a number of major heroin busts in North Jersey. This most recent drug bust resulted in one of the largest seizures of heroin in the state’s history.
The investigating law enforcement agencies have included the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, the Palisades Park Police Department, the Bayonne Police Department, and the West New York Police Department.
The most recent drug bust occurred at a number of locations in Bergen County NJ and resulted in the arrests of two men accused of being connected to a major drug distribution network. According to authorities, the suspects were distributing heroin throughout North Jersey.
Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office detectives investigated the suspects for several months and eventually obtained search warrants after finding out that one of the men allegedly received a large quantity of the painkiller fentanyl and was also anticipating “a large shipment of heroin” from someone else.
Since the suspects were allegedly selling the heroin in Palisades Park, Bayonne, and West New York, law enforcement executed search warrants at locations in all three municipalities. While conducting the drug raids, police reportedly came across large amounts of heroin. The total amount of heroin reportedly seized by law enforcement is said to weigh 21 kilograms and has street value of at least $1 million, with a single kilogram of heroin reportedly selling for $50,000 wholesale.
Authorities also allegedly discovered a kilo press, a digital scale, heroin packaging materials, and a machine used to count money.
The suspects include a 45-year-old Palisades Park man and a 46-year-old Bayonne man. They face very serious criminal charges for first degree possession with intent to distribute heroin. A conviction on the first degree criminal charges could lead to sentences of 10-20 years behind bars.
