NY Woman Reportedly Admits Killing Two People in River Edge, New Jersey
A NY woman allegedly confessed to killing her ex-boyfriend and his new girlfriend in River Edge, New Jersey.
According to the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, the 42-year-old suspect went to the home of her ex-boyfriend’s new girlfriend on October 30, 2012. The couple had broken up after spending 10 years together in a relationship.
When the suspect traveled to the house on Millbrook Road in River Edge, she expected to find, and kill, her ex-boyfriend. What the suspect reportedly did not expect to find was her ex’s new girlfriend.
The suspect allegedly entered the victims’ bedroom and used a .22-caliber rifle to shoot her 52-year-old ex-boyfriend. According to prosecutors, the suspect fired six rounds.
When the 42-year-old female victim began to struggle with the suspect immediately after the shooting, the suspect allegedly reached for a knife and stabbed her to death.
The suspect fled the scene and later threw the weapons used in the grisly killings into the Hudson River. Police reportedly recovered the rifle during a search of the river.
The suspect was subsequently arrested in Connecticut and charged with a number of crimes in connection with the violent home invasion, including two counts of murder, burglary, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and stalking.
The suspect recently appeared in Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack NJ and pleaded guilty to all of the criminal charges. According to prosecutors in the case, the suspect confessed to both murders.
The suspect is due to be sentenced in September. She will have to return to Bergen County Superior Court for sentencing at that time. Meanwhile, the suspect is being held at the Bergen County Correctional Facility in lieu of $3 million bail.
