Man Reportedly Murders Fiancée, Kills Himself in Moonachie NJ
A Moonachie NJ man reportedly murdered his fiancée and then killed himself.
According to Bergen County prosecutors, Moonachie police received a report of a double shooting at a mobile home located at 3 West First Street. The unit was located in the Vanguard mobile home community. The 911 call was apparently placed by a man who lived with the couple in the trailer.
Members of several agencies responded to the call, including detectives with the Moonachie Police Major Crimes Unit, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office, and the Bergen County Medical Examiner’s Office.
When officers arrived at the scene, they reportedly found the 34-year-old suspect and his 33-year-old fiancée lying lifeless on the living room floor inside the mobile home unit. Police believe that the suspect shot his fiancée to death before putting the gun to his own head.
Prosecutors said that autopsies were performed on the deceased. The autopsies reportedly revealed that both individuals died of gunshot wounds to the head.
Prosecutors also confirmed that the suspect wrote a Facebook post one week before the shooting. The suspect reportedly declared undying love for his fiancée in the post.
Although the investigation into the shooting remains ongoing, authorities have not yet determined a motive for the murder-suicide.
