Member of New Milford School Board Accused of Theft
A member of the New Milford borough school board was recently arrested and charged with theft after authorities discovered that approximately $92,000 had gone missing from the board of education’s account.
The suspect is a 57-year-old resident of New Milford and serves on the board of education for the borough. He allegedly kept $92K in funds that was collected from registrants for recreational sports and summer camps in New Milford, New Jersey.
The borough administrator notified local law enforcement in February 2017 after noticing that a large amount of money had gone missing. During the official police investigation into the alleged theft, law enforcement reportedly recovered at least some of the missing funds.
The suspect was subsequently charged with a crime for allegedly misapplying entrusted property and government property.
After being arrested and processed, the suspect was released on his own recognizance.
