Juveniles Accused of Starting Fire at Garfield NJ House
Garfield NJ law enforcement recently arrested two juveniles who allegedly started a fire at a local house.
The incident occurred around 3:40 p.m. Garfield firefighters were dispatched to the scene, a single-family house located at 54 Schley Street in Garfield NJ, after receiving a report of a fire.
When Garfield NJ firefighters arrived at the scene, they saw two juvenile boys standing on the roof of the home.
Garfield cops quickly got the underage boys off the roof and took them into police custody.
Fortunately, nobody was injured as a result of the fire because the house was vacant. However, the fire did cause extensive damage to the property, including the back of the home and the exterior siding. It took approximately half an hour for firefighters to put out the blaze.
The Garfield Police Department and the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Arson Squad are conducting a joint investigation into the possible arson incident.
If Bergen County prosecutors decide to file charges against the underage suspects, it is possible that they could be charged as juveniles.
