A former Bergen County priest has been charged with child pornography distribution and child pornography possession in Pennsylvania.

The sex crime suspect is Kevin Gugliotta, a 54-year-old man who previously served as a priest at Immaculate Conception RC Church in Mahwah NJ and at Holy Spirit RC Church in Union NJ. That information comes from Gugliotta’s LinkedIn page.

Monroe County detectives opened an investigation into the suspect after receiving information that he may have uploaded child pornography to an Internet chat room. After tracing the upload to Gugliotta’s IP address, detectives executed a search warrant at his vacation home and seized is personal laptop computer.

In October 2016, Pennsylvania prosecutors filed criminal charges against the suspect. Gugliotta has been charged with numerous sexual offenses, including 20 counts of disseminating child pornography and 20 counts of possessing child pornography. He recently appeared in a Pennsylvania courtroom for a hearing. It remains to be seen whether he will ultimately head to trial on the sex crime charges. If the suspect is unable to reach a plea deal with Wayne County prosecutors, he will likely have to answer the charges in front of a jury.

While the sexual offense charges remain pending, the suspect is being held at the Wayne County Prison in lieu of a massive $1 million bail amount.
