Ex-Teacher in Hackensack NJ Pleads Guilty to Child Endangerment, Allegedly Had Sex with Student
A former Hackensack New Jersey teacher reportedly admitted to engaging in sexual activity with a student and pleaded guilty to child endangerment.
The 65-year-old suspect, who lives in Warwick NY, was one of the longest-tenured teachers at Bergen County Academies in Hackensack, NJ. He worked as a biology and human sexuality teacher at the Hackensack NJ school.
According to Bergen County prosecutors, the suspect had sex with a 16-year-old female student at the school and also sent multiple emails and text messages that were sexually explicit.
The victim’s sister reportedly found the emails and then notified their mother. The mom reached out to authorities, which prompted an investigation into the suspect.
Detectives with the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office spoke with the suspect and the student. During an interview with the victim, she reportedly provided specific details about the alleged sexual offenses.
Following the investigation, law enforcement arrested the suspect and charged him with multiple sex crimes, including sexual assault, criminal sexual contact, endangering the welfare of a child.
Now the suspect is set to face prison time after pleading guilty on the child endangerment charges. When the suspect returns to Bergen County Superior Court on May 27, he will be formally sentenced on the sex crime charges.
