Elmwood Park NJ Police Searching for Man Who Allegedly Tried to Rob Pathmark Supermarket
Elmwood Park NJ police are looking for the suspect in the robbery of a grocery store.
According to authorities, the 57-year-old suspect walked into the Broadway Pathmark supermarket and tried to steal an undisclosed number of items. When the store’s security guard reportedly saw the suspect shoplifting, he approached the suspect and attempted to detain him. This allegedly prompted the suspect to pull out a 6-inch kitchen knife and point it in the direction of the guard.
The suspect then reportedly fled the store on foot. He was last seen running in the direction of Paterson, New Jersey.
After police officers were called to the scene, they reviewed store security camera footage. Police soon identified the suspect in the robbery.
Elmwood Park police released a description of the suspect. He is described as standing approximately 5-feet-9-inches tall with a medium build. He was reportedly wearing all dark clothing at the time of the incident.
If the suspect is apprehended, he could face serious criminal charges for armed robbery and weapons offenses.
Elmwood Park NJ police have asked for the public’s assistance in locating the suspect. Anyone with information about the suspect is asked to contact police at 201-796-0700. It should be noted that the suspect is considered armed and dangerous.
