Police are searching for two men who allegedly robbed and assaulted an elderly person in Elmwood Park, NJ.

According to police, the 63-year-old victim parked his car shortly after midnight in the parking lot of the Elmwood Court development. The parking lot is located on River Drive in Elmwood Park, New Jersey. The victim was returning home for the night; he lives in the development.

After parking and getting out of his vehicle, the victim was allegedly attacked from behind by two men. The suspects reportedly punched the victim in the head and the face until he fell to the ground. The suspects then allegedly kicked the victim.

The suspects eventually reached into the victim’s pocket and took several items, including the victim’s wallet, iPhone, and knapsack.

After stealing the items from the victim, the suspects reportedly ran away and fled the area on foot. They were seen running toward River Drive.

The victim was disoriented after the attack. He managed to walk to a neighbor’s residence and knock on the door. When Elmwood Park police got to the scene, they found the victim suffering from injuries to his ribs and lacerations to both his head and face. The victim was taken to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center in Paterson, New Jersey.

Officers with the Elmwood Park Police Department and the Bergen County Sheriff’s Department K-9 unit searched the area, but they were unable to locate the suspects.

The victim provided police with descriptions of the suspects. The assailants have been described as black men in their early 20s and standing approximately 5-feet-9-inches tall. The suspects were reportedly wearing black jackets and dark hats at the time of the attack.

If the suspects are eventually identified and captured, they could face significant criminal charges for aggravated assault and robbery.
