Elmwood Park NJ Man Accused of Distributing Child Pornography
Police recently arrested a substitute teacher in Elmwood Park NJ accused of distributing child pornography over the Internet.
The suspect is a 24-year-old man who resides in Elmwood Park and works at a Bergen County school. (Authorities have not indicated the exact location or name of the school at which the suspect is employed.)
Law enforcement officials began an investigation into the suspect and eventually obtained a search warrant for his Elmwood Park residence. Detectives with the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Sex Crimes Unit went to the suspect’s home and seized his personal computer.
A search of the suspect’s computer allegedly turned up evidence that he had gone online and accessed images and videos featuring minors engaged in sexually explicit acts. Authorities indicated that some of the videos showed prepubescent girls.
Additionally, the suspect allegedly shared the child pornography with others via file-sharing software. As a result, he has been charged with child pornography distribution and child pornography possession.
After being placed under arrest, the suspect was taken to the Bergen County Jail in Hackensack NJ. He was being held at the correctional facility in lieu of a $75K bail amount. If the suspect is able to secure his release by posting bail, he will be barred from using the Internet or having any contact with children until the criminal charges have been resolved.
