Driver of SUV Gets Ticket After Allegedly Hitting Pedestrian in Englewood, New Jersey
Police in Englewood NJ are investigating a traffic accident that left a Palisades Park man with serious injuries.
The victim was a pedestrian who sustained the injuries after reportedly being struck by a 2014 Mercedes ML350.
The driver of the SUV was reportedly a 40-year-old male from Old Tappan, New Jersey. He allegedly struck the victim while turning left from Phelps Avenue onto Grand Avenue in Englewood, New Jersey. The victim was attempting to cross the street in an area where there was no crosswalk.
The victim, a 68-year-old male, reportedly sustained fractures to his face and vertebrae and bleeding in his brain as a result of the car crash. He was found lying in the middle of the road and unconscious.
Shortly after the accident, the victim was rushed to Hackensack University Medical Center so that he could be treated for his injuries.
Meanwhile, the suspect remained at the scene after the accident and provided a statement to Englewood police officers.
At this time, police do not plan to bring any criminal charges against the suspect. It also appears that the driver will avoid any serious traffic charges for reckless driving. However, Englewood police did say that they would be issuing a traffic citation for failure to stop for a pedestrian in an unmarked crosswalk.
