Cliffside Park NJ Man Accused of Distribution of Heroin Out of Local Apartment
A Cliffside Park NJ man faces serious drug charges for allegedly distributing heroin out of his apartment.
According to Bergen County prosecutors, the 48-year-old suspect cut, packaged, and sold the heroin. The Cliffside Park Police Department and the Fairview Police Department began an investigation into the suspect after receiving a tip about possible drug activity. The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Narcotics Task Force also assisted with the investigation.
Investigators reportedly discovered a large quantity of heroin in the suspect’s apartment after serving a search warrant at his residence.
The suspect was arrested shortly before the search warrant was executed by police. The suspect was placed under arrest while walking in Fairview, New Jersey. At the time of his arrest, the suspect allegedly had 23 bags of heroin and oxycodone in his possession.
During a search of the suspect’s apartment, police allegedly discovered 260 bags of heroin and several empty heroin glassine packets. Police also allegedly found assorted drug paraphernalia, including a digital scale, rubber bands used to package drugs, and items reportedly used to package and cut heroin.
Officials said that the drugs seized from the suspect’s apartment have an estimated street value of approximately $2,000.
The suspect faces a number of drug charges, including heroin possession with intent to distribute, maintaining or operating a drug production facility, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Depending upon the quantity of drugs seized, the suspect could be subject to severe criminal penalties. As set forth by N.J.S.A. 2C:35-5, distribution of even a trace amount of heroin is a third degree felony that carries a sentence of up to 5 years in NJ State Prison.
After being arrested and processed, the suspect was transported to the Bergen County Jail in Hackensack, New Jersey. He is being held at the correctional facility on a $100,000 bail amount.
