California Man Charged with Distributing Child Pornography in Bergen County, NJ
Police recently arrested a California man who is accused of distributing child pornography in Bergen County, New Jersey.
According to authorities, the 41-year-old suspect went online and had a conversation with an undercover cop using the screen name “DejaVu1877.” The suspect allegedly believed that the person he was talking to was the parent of a six-year-old girl. In fact, the other person was actually an undercover detective working with the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Computer Crimes Unit.
During the conversation, the suspect reportedly told the police officer that he liked to view child pornography. He allegedly made this admission on more than one occasion while engaging in sexually explicit chats online.
The suspect also allegedly sent several images of child exploitation to the undercover officer.
Bergen County law enforcement later obtained a search warrant, which was executed at the suspect’s residence in Sacramento, California. Sometime later, the suspect was placed under arrest.
The suspect has been charged with the sex crime of distributing images of child pornography.
After being arrested, the suspect was taken to a jail in California. He is awaiting extradition to New Jersey. Once the suspect has been transferred to NJ, he will be held at the Bergen County Jail in Hackensack on a $75,000 bail amount.
