Last week, a third man was charged in the “reckless” accidental shooting death of a New Milford man.

Police arrested 22-year-old Nicholas Questal, a citizen of Trinidad and Tobago who lives in Long Island NY, in connection with the shooting. Mr. Questal was charged with second degree unlawful possession of a firearm.

The charge stems from the shooting death of 22-year-old Alex Bridge, who was struck in the stomach at close range by a high-powered bullet coming from a 9mm handgun. According to authorities, the handgun discharged while 21-year-old Byron V. Sankar was showing it off.

The Bergen County Prosecutor says that Mr. Questal sold the handgun to Mr. Sankar, who is accused of pulling the trigger.

Mr. Sankar has been charged with first degree aggravated manslaughter and illegal handgun possession.

Also arrested in connection with the shooting was 22-year-old Aaron Dominic McMorris. Mr. McMorris allegedly ran from the scene of the shooting before eventually returning and calling police.

In New Jersey, the penalties for unlawful possession of a handgun are set forth in N.J.S.A. 2C:39-5(b). If convicted of second degree unlawful possession of a handgun, Mr. Questal could be sentenced to a term of imprisonment of up to 10 years in New Jersey State Prison.

Mr. Questal and Mr. McMorris were being held in the Bergen County Jail on $75,000.00 bail each. Mr. Sankar was being held on $1 million bail.
